An interesting anecdote is associated with the Hair Tonsuring ritual according to which Gandharva Princess Neela Devi offered a portion of her hair to Lord Srinivasa when his scalp became bald after being hit by a Shepherd. Since decades, devotees follow the ritual of Mottai as a symbol of leaving behind their ego and thanking God for whatever good they have acquired over so many years of their life. The ritual is usually performed before darshan of Lord Balaji. Visit the temple, prostrate and pay homage to the deity.
